Automated flat cap stacking/ taping system.

The challenge was to create a moving pallet type fixture to locate and hold the individual layers of a flat capacitor as a robotic arm placed them one at a time on top of the previous one while maintaining pressure on the stack at all times. the space available was the 4” x $’ x 1 1/2” block you see at the upper part of this view. since there are many of these pallets and each one has to have the same moving parts the lower portion of this view (which is only a small part of the whole machine) had to be modified to include an actuator system only a small part of which is visible.

The first arm places a layer on a spring loaded plate the wings are spread and released keeping pressure on the stack until the next layer is placed. once this is completed a second arm comes in from the front and wraps tape around the stack thus never releasing pressure from the assembled stack.
